Storm cleanup

The National Weather Service says our three day rain event was a classic "Nor'easter" that dumped several inches of rain. Some areas saw at least 10 inches including St. Augustine. The Black Creek and St. Marys River flooded, causing property damage to the people living near the water.

Flooded Friday

Bands of moderate to heavy rain will continue to rake across Northeast Florida today. Strong east winds will blow 15-25 mph with higher gusts causing rough seas and surf along with a high rip current risk at area beaches. Because the ground is saturated, trees will be more susceptible than usual to being uprooted.

Wet and windy

We're tracking coastal showers and thunderstorms today and, where it rains, it could be really heavy. We have a flood watch in effect through Saturday. It's going to stay pretty cool, too. Only in the mid-70's through Saturday. By the weekend the rain is more scattered.

Unlikely find on I-295 in Mandarin

Thousands of people zoom along I-295 near San Jose in Mandarin every day. The driver of a broken down car discovered two kilos of cocaine on the side of the highway. It's unclear how long the drugs had been there and, obviously, no one is claiming ownership of the drug.
