Kid Rock reportedly suggested for Michigan Senate seat

According to multiple reports, musician Kid Rock's name was thrown out as a potential Republican candidate for Michigan Democrat Debbie Stabenow’s Senate seat, which is up for re-election in 2018.

Stabenow’s held her position since 2000.

The Detroit Free Press reported that Kid Rock was brought into the discussion at a Michigan Republican Party convention on Feb. 11.

Tea party activist Wes Nakagiri, who attended the event, commented on the Romeo native’s potential to take up the position, calling it an “out-of-the-box idea” that could “generate as much excitement as (Donald) Trump did.”

Though it may seem odd for Kid Rock to even consider launching a political campaign, anything is possible. After all, the self-described libertarian has lent his voice to politics on numerous occasions. In addition to that, he was an avid Donald Trump supporter during the 2016 presidential campaign and previously introduced a line of pro-Trump merchandise through his online store.

So far, there is no word on whether or not Kid Rock will decide to join the next political run.

  • A man is dead following an overnight crash in Downtown Jacksonville.  When Jacksonville Police responded to the call, they found a 4-door sedan and a Jacksonville Transportation Authority bus disabled in the intersection of West Adams and North Jefferson Street.  According to police, the driver of the sedan was found unresponsive and was transported to U.F. Health where he later died. The driver of the JTA bus was also taken to the same hospital, but with non-life threatening injuries.  There were no passengers on the bus, we are told the driver was on the way to the terminal at the end of its shift.  Right now, police are trying to piece together the exact cause of the crash. They say at this point in their investigation they determined the bus was traveling west on West Adams Street and the sedan was southbound on North Jefferson Street. They entered the intersection at the same and collided.
  • A Jacksonville car wash owner says he is down to his last resort when it comes to keeping thieves out. Over the last two months, his car wash locations have been burglarized 14 times. Owner Mark Kramer said he is meeting with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office but will have to move to 24-hour security if nothing is done. New surveillance video from before 6:30 a.m. Tuesday shows a shirtless suspect pull into the Touch Free Car Wash on Girvin Road. He gets things out of his trunk and moves through several car wash bays, breaking the money boxes and getting away with cash. It's at least the third time the car wash has been hit in the last week. 'This time he broke locks on all my bays and all my vacuum cleaners, about $500 in locks,' Kramer said. 'But it's the time to replace them, the time to fix them, and also the customers can't use them, so it's really getting to us more than anything.' With tens of thousands of dollars lost from Kramer's locations, and still no arrest, he's getting restless. 'We're supposed to have a meeting [Wednesday] afternoon hopefully to get a little more action out of the police because it happens pretty regularly,' Kramer said. 'If we don't have a good meeting [Wednesday] afternoon with the lieutenant, I will have somebody here until we catch [the suspect].
  • Jacksonville Police are investigating an overnight shooting at the Windy Pine Apartments on 103rd Street. Upon arrival, police say they found a Hispanic man in his 20’s in front of his apartment unit in the doorway suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Jacksonville Fire and Rescue responded to the scene and pronounced the man dead.  Detectives are on scene interviewing witnesses, who also include the victim’s girlfriend who was in the home at the time.  At this point in the investigation, there were no signs that this was a home invasion and a gun has not been recovered.  JSO has not identified a suspect.
