SAILORMEN, INC. POPEYES “APPETITE FOR A CURE” COMES THROUGH AGAIN FOR MDA
JACKSONVILLE, Fla., March 26, 2012 – Sailormen, Inc. Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen “Appetite for a Cure” program continues to be a huge success.
Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen staff raised a record $484,797 by selling “Appetite for a Cure” coupon cards, which provide customers with great discounts while simultaneously benefiting the worldwide research programs of the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
The amount is $60,000 more than last year’s then-record.
“During challenging economic times such as what we are living through, people really need any break we can offer, especially in relation to a necessity such as a meal,” Sailormen Inc. CEO Bob Berg said. “That being said, we also know MDA, like many nonprofit organizations, is facing daunting challenges today to maintain its high level of services to the people who rely on them daily. We’re untiring in our determination to work with the MDA and support these needs.”
As in previous years, participating Popeyes restaurant locations sold coupon cards for $1 (valued at more than $30) from Jan. 31 through March 18. Coupons can be used toward free and discounted future purchases.
“What another great showing by Sailormen, Inc. Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen. It continues to one-up itself every year,’’ said MDA Executive Vice President of Business Development Kevin Moran. “A lot of hard work and effort goes into making ‘Appetite for a Cure’ a big success. We appreciate everything done for MDA. The results will help researchers continue their great progress in finding treatments and cures in the fight against muscle diseases.’’
Sailormen Inc. is the largest domestic franchisee of Popeyes Louisiana Kitchen restaurants, with 143 locations in seven states. The company has raised more than $3 million for MDA since 2002.
