INTRODUCTION:  Baptist Health in Jacksonville, Florida offers a comprehensive curriculum of childbirth classes in various locations and dates in a three -week series or an all-day Saturday intensive class. In this three week, (one -night per week series), you and your partner will increase your confidence in the birthing process as you gain a better understanding of what to expect during lthe last few weeks of pregnancy, labor and birth. This series includes information on the following:Discomforts of the last trimesterPreterm labor, warning signs and when to go to the hospitalEpidurals or natural birth-learning more about your optionsYour partner's role during laborWhat to expect in the hospitalComfort measures in laborCesarean birthPostpartum care Basic newborn informationBy learning the essentials of childbirth taught by experienced childbirth educators, you'll be given the tools to help you make the best choices for the birth of your baby.  Please Note: Some breathing and relaxation is included in this class but you will not practice on the floor. For couples desiring additional lamaze-type techniques, we offer a supplemental one-night  "Comfort Measures for Labor "class, This comfort measures class includes additional breathing exercises, progressive relaxation, imagery, positioning and labor rehersal. You do not have to be a Baptist Health patient.
