Pasta wasn't the only culprit. Some of the other goodies on the bad list were red meat, soda, white bread and chips.
Women who consumed those items on a regular basis were 29%-41% more prone to be diagnosed with depression than those who took in wine, leafy greens, and coffee.
Scientists looked at 43,000 women for more than a decade and found some of those same foods are bad for your brain.
A report in Medical Daily confirms women from the ages of 50 to 77 with no history of depression before the study were looked at.
Researchers aren’t sure why carb heavy foods and depression go together but there are some theories.
ABC News says women who are feeling blue may turn to comfort foods to try and make themselves feel better thus connecting the two on the backside of the issue.
Another possible explanation has to do with carbohydrates leading to increased inflammation, a condition already known to be tied to depression.

Foods rich with olive oil, vegetables, fish, and sweet potatoes (without the brown sugar and marshmallows, sorry.).
