Eighteen people were injured late Friday morning when a hotel shuttle bus and tractor-trailer wrecked at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport, according to authorities.
The state Department of Transportation said the wreck happened on Loop Road near the exit from I-85 northbound.
Atlanta Fire Rescue Department spokeswoman Janet Ward said 18 people were on the shuttle bus. Nine people were being transported to Grady Memorial Hospital for treatment and nine were being taken to Atlanta Medical Center, Ward said.
The extent of the injuries was not immediately known, but Ward said one patient was in critical condition.
According to the markings on the bus, it was a shuttle for Hampton Inn, Fairfield Inn and Hilton hotels, and was operated by MTI Limos.
The shuttle bus slammed into the left side of a tractor-trailer that was apparently making a U-turn.
The ramp from I-85 northbound to Loop Road was shut down by the crash, according to the DOT.
