FHP: Body recovered from the St. Johns River after crash on the Buckman

The Florida Highway Patrol said a body was recovered out of the St. Johns River Wednesday after a truck fell off the Buckman Bridge.

After searching for several hours, the body was found in 12-15 feet of water.

The truck fell off the bridge because of a traffic crash around 8 a.m.

Officials towed the truck out of the water but said no one was inside.

Lauren Jorgenson with the Coast Guard said a boat and helicopter were dispatched to help in the search.

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office also worked the incident.

The crash caused all lanes in both directions of the bridge to close.  Southbound lanes reopened, but FHP said some northbound lanes will remained closed for several hours.
