A local WOKV listener says her husband is active duty personnel for the Florida National Guard and their family has concerns about the looming government shutdown.
"What Congress is doing is terrible."
She wanted to remain anonymous but she tells WOKV news she hopes Congress will soon pass a budget. The wife and mom of a 3-year-old says Congress needs to get their act together. She says the budget showdown in Washington will have a trickle-down effect on families.
"Not just my husband who is on military orders but people who work for the national park services."
She tells WOKV news the strain will not only be felt by her family but by other federal workers who could face furloughs. The President has vowed that members of the armed forces will receive their checks on times. Still, she says Congress is playing an awful game and she feels its at her husband's and others expense.
