JSO arrests phone scammers

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office arrested three people in connection with a phone scam.

JSO says Toney Calhoun, Kristen Denton, and Bianca Wilson conducted a scam where they called people pretending to be law enforcement and then informed those individuals there was a warrant out for their arrest. Under the scheme, they would accept money and agree to not arrest those individuals.

Tony Calhoun was charged with numerous charges relating to organized fraud, criminal conspiracy, falsely impersonating an officer, and conspiracy to violate Rico. Police say the  co-defendants Denton and Wilson, employees of Mr. Calhoun, have been charged with organized fraud due to their roles in the scam.

Police say they want you to know they never conduct collections activities. They say any person contacted by someone claiming to be performing collections activities on behalf of JSO should contact the economic crimes unit at (904) 630-0500.
