Jacksonville, FL. — Rough seas are the reason the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is delaying the dredging for the St. Augustine Beach renourishment project.

It was expected to kick off on Monday, November 27th and is now scheduled for December 21st. The contractor will also temporarily suspend dredging operations December 23rd – 27th for the holiday and on New Year’s Eve for the Beach Blast Event.

The project is expected to last through spring 2018. Pope Road will be closed to for the duration of the project because it will be used as a staging area.

The beach will remain open outside of work areas, but you're urged to use caution in the area.
