A seven year-old elementary school student from Baltimore was suspended from school for two days after a teacher saw him eating a Pop-Tart pastry and said she thought it looked like he was shaping it into a gun.
WBFF-TV reports the teacher also said she heard the boy say "Bang bang" while he was holding it.
Josh Welch denies saying "Bang bang" but admits that he was trying to shape the Pop-Tart.
"All I was trying to do was turn it into a mountain, but it didn't look like a mountain, really. And it turned out to be a gun kinda," Welch told WBFF-TV.
The school sent out a letter late Friday to parents explaining what happened and why they thought it was a threat. The letter said, "A student used food to make an inappropriate gesture."
On Monday night, Welch's father met with school administrators at Park Elementary School who now say that the boy was suspended for his disruptive behavior in the classroom, not because he made a gun.
His father says he's flustered about it because it seems like they're now trying to down play it a little bit after getting media exposure about the suspension.
