Black Creek levels no longer expected to rise

Clay County emergency managers now say they do not expect Black Creek water levels to rise Thursday night into Friday morning.

The weather service had said earlier that a storm system was expected to drop heavy rainfall overnight, but the system has since weakened.

Clay Emergency Management Deputy Director John Ward told WOKV earlier on Thursday that the area is currently damp because of recent rain.  They were concerned that even a few more inches of rain could flood north and south prongs.

“There’s not really a lot of places for the water to go,” he said.
