Jacksonville, Fl. - Happiness washed over Stuart Carson’s widow for the first time since her husband’s murder. A judge ruled Thursday that the man accused of killing Carson, 43, will be held without bond.
Police arrested Rohbanni Wilson, 23, Wednesday night and charged him with one count of murder for allegedly shooting Carson, a Gator City Taxi driver.
Officers with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office found Carson in his cab on the 500 block of West 27th Street on June 7th. Records show Carson’s body was still seated in the driver’s side of the cab with his seatbelt on when cops found him shot to death.
Through evidence from a search warrant and witness accounts, police identified Wilson as the suspect, according to Chief of Detectives Adam Brown with JSO.
Many details in the murder and arrest report were redacted. Some pages of the report had more redactions than legible words.
“I’m being a little vague with you guys, and there’s a reason for it,” Chief Brown said. “The investigation is continuing…so I can’t really go into detail about how we found him and what led up to it.”
The U.S. Marshals Service found Wilson Wednesday in the 1200 block of Mayport Landing Circle, according to police.
“I’m just really happy they caught this guy so fast, because he deserves everything he is about to get,” said wife Kelly Redington Carson.
Redington Carson told WOKV she was married to her husband for 10 years and the couple has four children.
“It’s a lot thinking about how I’m going to work and be able to help my kids with their school work,” she said.
Police did not name a motive for the murder.
Only days after JSO found Carson dead in his taxi, they responded to reports of another driver being robbed and stabbed in the same area.
JSO said the two incidents are not related. WOKV reached out to police to see if they are any closer to finding the two suspects who stabbed the 71-year-old driver.
Wilson is a registered sex offender. He was arrested in 2011 for violation of probation and in 2010 for petit theft, according to JSO.
Wilson will make his next court appearance July 10th. Carson’s family said they will definitely be there.
