Norman awoke the next morning to the sound of a gunshot.  He found 11-year-old Jarvin Johnson lying unresponsive and a 4-year-old handling the gun in the living room. A 2-year-old was also standing nearby.

The bullet hit Jarvin in the neck. He was taken to UF & Shands Hospital in Gainesville where he died two days later. The 4-year-old suffered injuries to her face from the recoil after the gun discharged.
