A local child safety organization has tips for parents after a local woman is cited by police for leaving her infant alone in a locked car.
"Hot days are the most dangerous."
Cynthia Dennis with SafeKids of Northeast Florida says it only takes a couple of minutes before the temperature rises in a locked car.
"A car can heat up 20 degrees in ten minutes."
Dennis recommends putting something you need like a cell phone or briefcase next to your child, somethng you'll likely need at your final destination.
Florida law makes it illegal to leave a child under the age of 6 unsupervised in a car for longer than 15 minutes.
