The debate will continue, at least for a little while, over whether or not to ban e-cigarette use in places where smoking is already prohibited.
Orange Park city council voted last night to postpone the vote but did amend the ordinance to include how violators would be punished: a $100 fine but no criminal offense.
"We have been trying to denormalize the act of smoking and use of cigarettes. Now, with e-cigarettes being allowed and this use being allowed, that's basically falling back and backtracking," says Orange Park student and Students Working Against Tobacco member Aser Civilus.
The town decided to postpone the vote in order to take more time to make the right decision. Those for and against the ordinance are still frustrated that the fight has to continue.
