Tonight Jax Beach city council will vote on adding four more community assisted police officers.
Mayor Charlie Latham says it's in response to the increased number of visitors that are heading out to Jax Beach.
"Now on the weekend we get tens of thousands of visitors."
The total costs will be just under half a million dollars. The money is coming from a special trust fund.
Latham says it's not in response to last year's Memorial Day Brawl that went unsolved on Jacksonville Beach. He tells WOKV that sort of incident can happen anywhere and what he feels should be highlighted is how officers quickly handled and de-escalated the situation.
