Councilman Jim Love tells WOKV he's looking for ways to increase safety at nightclubs following a deadly shooting at the Fat Kat lounge in Murray Hill and a shootout at Club Lava in Arlington, both on the same weekend.
"I don't want people to get killed anymore."
One person was killed and four injured at a shooting at the Fat Kat lounge in Murray Hill.
Councilman Love says he's reached out to leaders including one council member in Alabama who already have laws on the books.
"To have security cameras, a security plan, qualified security people."
He says he's also reached out to other local city council members, Sheriff Rutherford and concerned residents in the Murray Hill community. His goal is to put a stop to the violence.
"I have great concerns about the violence."
On March 6th, Love is hosting a special meeting at 3PM at city hall to address the public's concerns about the violence at local night clubs. He tells WOKV it's open to the public, residents, night club owners and anyone who wants to discuss the issue.
