Couple pleads guilty in hit and run death of 2-year-old

It's been a year since a young girl was hit and killed at a southside apartment complex.

We've just learned two people have pleaded guilty to criminal charges in connection with 2-year-old Jayna Solomon's death.

Serdarus Scott admitted to hitting the girl.  He stopped at first, but then fled with his girlfriend.  Ariel Siplin also pleaded guilty to Accessory After the Fact, and Tampering with Evidence.

Both are scheduled to be sentenced in July.

Police responded to the Harold House Apartments on Ring Lane in June 2013 to find Janya Solomon badly injured. She was later pronounced dead from her injuries. We're told the driver had stopped to talk with someone in the apartment complex when Solomon walked in front of the car and was hit as it accelerate. JSO says the driver and passenger then switched places and drove off without stopping.

"He just hit her and left her in the road like trash. And all I want you to do is turn yourself in because my baby was innocent. My baby don't deserve this. You took my baby, she don't deserve this," a tearful Natalie Parker, the mother of Janya, told our partner Action News.

Christopher Bailey tells Action News he got a phone call from one of his relatives inside the complex who told him what happened.

"I just got a phone call that a dude was arguing with somebody out here and then he reversed the car and ran the baby's head over...he had kids in the car and his baby mama gets out the car and drives for him. She drove him out the apartment."

The suspect vehicle was later found at the Leigh Meadows Apartments on Sunbeam Rd.
