Dad was asleep while naked child wandered into pond

A toddler is safe and sound after he was found naked in a Westside retention pond Wednesday.

According to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, the toddler's father was asleep on the couch, and marijuana and a pipe were on the stove.
Police arrested 22-year-old Matthew Deen on charges of child neglect and possession of marijuana.
According to a police report we have obtained, Deen told police he thought his baby was in his crib.

The toddler is OK.  We're told he was released to his mother.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office and Jacksonville Fire and Rescue were called to the Acts2 Church on 103rd Street near Old Middleburg Road at about 8:45 p.m. Church members found the boy wading in knee-deep water. They brought him inside the church to dry him off and warm him up.

John Harrell with DCF says the the agency started investigating as soon as the boy was found Wednesday night.
