Deaf man fights over intruder with sword in Jacksonville

A deaf person managed to fight off an intruder using a sword.  The suspect had broken into the man's home in the Sable Palms Apartments off Emerson near Philips Highway south of downtown Jacksonville.

The suspected robber was stabbed in the chest and then ran away.  He was later arrested at the Gate gas station on Emerson near I-95.  

Police say the suspect's injuries aren't life-threatening and that homeowner is OK.

We're told the deaf man in his 20's was not alone in the apartment.  His family was there, but they may not have witnessed the robbery before 2am.

The victim was able to communicate with police via text message.
