Less than two weeks before school is scheduled to be back in session in Duval County and 66 teachers have lost their jobs for failing to meet their certification requirements.
"Teachers are certified for a purpose...to make certain they understand the content, they know how to deliver the content and they know how to properly interact with the kids," says school board member Paula Wright.
Replacement teachers have already been hired to lead classrooms when school starts August 19th.
The fired teachers have a chance to get their jobs back if they complete certification and if there is a job opening.
