36 people are homeless following a wake-up call no one ever wants to get.
Jacksonville Fire and Rescue responded to the Canterbury Gardens Apartments on the Westside shortly after midnight to find a working fire. The Red Cross says ten families consisting of 36 people are now in hotels because the building was so damaged.
It appears the fire started at a stove in one of the bottom units. Fire officials estimate the damage to currently be around $600,000.
