The family of a teenager shot and killed at a Southside gas station is heading to Washington to join in the fight against gun violence.
"I'm going to fight for my son," says Ron Davis, the father of 17-year-old Jordan Davis.
Ron tells our news partner Action News it's still hard to cope with the loss of his 17-year-old every day.
"In the morning, I cry when I wake up, you know. Every morning. Every morning that I go by his bedroom in the morning to eat breakfast I cry," says Davis.
Jordan Davis died on Black Friday after 45-year-old Michael Dunn allegedly fired several rounds into the SUV where Davis was, apparently because of some loud music. Dunn claims he was threatened and that the boys in the car had a shotgun. Jacksonville police have yet to find a weapon.
Davis says his first meeting is with Congresswoman Corinne Brown...he says he'll also attend a special Congressional hearing on gun violence prevention chaired by Nancy Pelosi.
"We feel very honored because it's part of history," says Davis.
Davis and his wife Lucy will arrive in Washington on Tuesday night for a full day of meetings on Wednesday.
