FDOT: More Main Street Bridge closures this weekend

If you spend most of your weekend nights in the downtown area, don't plan on using the Main Street Bridge this weekend.

As part of an ongoing improvement project, the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) will be closing down the Main Street Bridge beginning 6:30 p.m. Friday, Feb 24 to 6 a.m. Sunday, Feb 26.

A detour will be set in place to direct vehicle and pedestrian traffic to the Acosta Bridge, and visible signs will guide traffic safely through the detour.

Boaters will not be affected by the closures.

The closures are necessary to continue replacement of mechanical components, the electrical control system, sidewalk and traffic gates, the lighting protection system and traffic cameras.

The $10.7 million project is expected to be completed this spring.
