FHP identifies two hurt in crash

Two people have been taken to the hospital in a crash involving a truck and a car. All lanes of Normandy Boulevard at New World Avenue are back open.

The Florida Highway Patrol says Andrew Shrum of Middleburg was driving a Chevy Silverado westbound on Normandy when he reached for his phone and veered into oncoming traffic and hit a Saturn L200 head-on.

According to Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department spokesman Tom Francis, one patient was taken by medical helicopter to UF Health at Jacksonville and one patient was taken by ambulance to UF Health. Miles Diehl of Jacksonville is in critical condition and Amy Diehl, also of Jacksonville was in serious condition.

Shrum is facing charges.
