Saving you more when you renew your tag and registration.   We find a growing number of Florida lawmakers are rallying behind the Governor's plan to cut auto fees.

House and Senate committees on Thursday advanced bills that would lower auto tag and registration fees by about $25 for many motorists.  The fees were raised in 2009 as lawmakers dealt with ways to balance the state budget while dealing with the Great Recession.

The bills that are advancing would cost nearly $400 million. Legislators plan to cut $500 million in taxes and fees this year.

Governor Scott has made the auto fee rollback a top priority for the legislative session.

Representative Jared Moskowitz, D-Coral Springs, questioned the size of the cuts.  He said Republicans were pushing them for political reasons because the fees were hiked when Governor Charlie Crist was in office.
