Florida AG postponed execution for campaign fundraiser

Florida attorney general Pam Bondi is backpedaling a bit after she postponed an execution so she could attend her "campaign kickoff" fundraiser in Tampa.
Monday, Bondi admitted she should not have rescheduled the execution of convicted murderer Marshall Lee Gore especially considering his death had already been stayed twice by the courts. She says she takes participating in executions very seriously and wanted to be able to take part in this one.
Governor Rick Scott said he approved the request to postpone the execution but that at the time he didn't know the reason Bondi wanted it postponed.
Bondi was a big proponent of the Governor's "Timely Justice Act" which is a law that speeds up executions by eliminating "frivolous" appeals by inmates.
Gore had been scheduled to be executed at 6 p.m. Tuesday but it was postponed to October 1.
