SATSUMA, Fla. - Five years later, the search continues for a young girl who disappeared from her Satsuma home in the middle of the night.
"As far as we know they don't know any more now than they did the first week," says Annette Sykes, Haleigh Cummings' great grandmother.
It's been five years since the then 5-year-old Cummings vanished from her bed in the middle of the night, but for Sykes, the pain is still as fresh as it was that day.
"You think about it all the time...it's terrible. I mean, the emptiness, the hurt, the not-knowing."
Thousands of tips have come in but detectives in Putnam County tell us the investigation is ongoing. Sykes says she believes Haleigh is out there somewhere, alive.
"I've been ready, but God's not. So, you know, we have to wait on him."
There will be a vigil Monday afternoon at 1:30 in Haleigh's honor at Browning Pearce Elementary School in San Mateo.
