HOLLISTER, Fla. - A few livestock in Putnam County fell victim to Sunday's severe weather when they got caught under a tree during a lightning strike. The storm brought plenty of rain, gusty winds, and even hail in some places.
"I noticed a big bolt come down and it just, like, hit a tree. The cows were standing still and then they just flopped over," says Hollister resident Hunter Davis.
The rain even forced a more than six hour delay at the Daytona 500 about 45 minutes after the race started.
Emergency officials say several homes in Putnam County had minor damage and some downed trees and other debris caused a few issues too. The National Weather Service issued a tornado warning in Flagler county but we checked this morning and there were no confirmed reports of any tornados touching down.
