FLAGLER COUNTY, Fl. - A fiery crash involving a Porsche and Harley Davidson kills the information technology security chief for the city of Jacksonville early Sunday morning.
The Florida Highway Patrol says 34-year old Adam Mathews was driving a Porsche north on I-95 a mile north of Palm Coast Parkway and came up fast on a Harley Davidson motorcycle.
Mathews than collided with the left rear side of 57-year old Allison Swisher's Harley according to deputies. The Porsche then entered the woods and struck a tree, ejecting the passenger Gena Coursen.
Upon impact the Porsche burst into flames with Mathews still in the car.
Coursen remains in critical condition at Shands Gainsville.
Swisher was transported to the hospital for minor injuries.
Mathews was pronounced dead on the scene.
According to Mayor Alvin Brown's spokesman, Mathews first joined the city of Jacksonville in 2003 as an auditor. He has had the job of IT security officer since 2011.
His job as Security Officer with ITD entailed ensuring the security of the COJ applications, desktops and datacenter.
"Adam was a very jovial and cheerful person, always with a smile on his face. He was well liked in ITD and across COJ. He will be missed very much professionally and personally", said David DeCamp.
We are told Ms. Courson formerly was finance manager in ITD.
