Tourism numbers are up significantly in Florida and VisitJax tells WOKV Jacksonville is one city leading the way.
"Let's face it. The economy is getting better," said CEO of VisitJax, Paul Astleford.
Astleford tells WOKV, big events like Country Superfest, the Carrie Underwood concert and U.S. soccer games were all reasons why people who visited Florida chose to stop in Jacksonville. He says the numbers don't lie.
"Just the lodging alone was 356 million dollars."
An added benefit, Astleford says it also keeps the state tax off the books.
Governor Rick Scott says 24 million tourists visited the state during the second quarter.
