She left three kids alone in the car while shoplifting at a Southside department store on Black Friday.
That's what the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says about a 28-year-old woman who's still behind bars this morning on $45,000 bond on charges of petit theft, retail theft and child neglect.
According to the arrest report, officers responding to the Kohl's on Atlantic Boulevard near Kernan Boulevard around 6:30 p.m. found Jenni Marie Ennis trying to leave the store without paying for $632.70 in merchandise, some of which included Fitbit watches, clocks and Bluetooth speakers.
Officers say a worker at the store who had an eye on Ennis as she loaded all those items into a shopping cart called JSO for help once she had left the store, leading them to find her pushing that "loaded" cart as she walked towards the parking lot.
It was soon after that when those officers found the kids in a 2004 gray Honda Accord which had the engine running and the air conditioner on, per the report.
Also found in the car, according to JSO, was a stolen 32-inch Element television still in its box which was returned to Walmart and other items which investigators believe may have been stolen. Those items were seized by JSO as investigators try to figure out who owns them.
Per the report, officers were led to the kids after Ennis said she needed to contact someone inside the car soon after she was approached by them.
The ages of the kids were redacted from the JSO report, as was any mention of their relationship to Ellis.
Duval County Jail records show Ennis has been booked 12 times since 2009 on a variety of charges, including knowingly driving with a suspended license, marijuana possession, petit theft, grand theft, employee theft and dealing in stolen property.
She's been previously convicted for driving with a suspended license and twice for petit theft, per jail records.
