Jacksonville woman killed in wrong-way crash on westside

A Jacksonville woman died following a wrong-way crash on the westside early Wednesday.

Florida Highway Patrol says 49-year-old Barbara Herbert was traveling northbound in the southbound lanes of Cassat north of Park Street just past Midnight.

Police say the Honda Civic left the road and hit a utility pole on the southbound shoulder.  Herbert was rushed to UF Health, where she later died.

Police at the scene told our reporter that both southbound lanes of Cassat would be closed for hours as JEA crews have to install a new pole.
