The Jags had a bunch of holes to fill in this year’s draft and after filling the tackle void on Thursday when they took Luke Joeckel with the second overall pick. They filled a defensive back need with the first pick in the second round using the 33rd overall pick to take Saftey Johnathan Cyprien. Cyprien is 6’0” 210 pound out of Florida International. Leading up to the pick there were rumors the Jets were trying to trade up with the Jags to take Qb Geno Smith.
The Teams biggest need going forward is at cornerback. The Jags were left with a hole at corner after losing Derek Cox to San Diego in free agency and releasing franchise interception leader Rashean Mathis. The Jags still have one more pick tonight in the third round, The 64th pick overall second in the third round. They finish off their draft this weekend with four picks in the final four rounds.
