Jaguars fall 45-17 to Seahawks, slip to 0-3

The Jacksonville Jaguars were unable to secure their first win of the season on Sunday, losing to the Seattle Seahawks 45-17 at CenturyLink Field. The loss puts them at 0-3 on the season gearing up for next week's return from their Pacific road trip. They face the 2-1 Indianapolis Colts next Sunday at Everbank Field.

Maurice Jones-Drew carried the ball 19 times for 43 yards and a touchdown and Cecil Shorts III caught eight passes for 143 yards. Chad Henne, who started for the injured Blaine Gabbert, went 18 of 38 for 235 yards and two interceptions.

Running back Jordan Todman provided Jacksonville's other score in the fourth quarter with a 3-yard touchdown run but it wasn't enough to spark a comeback. The Jaguars were in negative total yardage for the first quarter and didn't crack the 100 yard mark until the third quarter.

The Jags defense did come up with an interception and two sacks of Seahawks QB Russell Wilson, but as Cecil Shorts said after the game, the defense was just on the field too long for Jacksonville to get anything going offensively.

Wilson went 14 of 21 for 202 yards and four touchdowns before he traded his helmet for a baseball cap in the third quarter. WR Sidney Rice caught five passes for 79 yards and two touchdowns for Seattle, who moves to 3-0 on the season.

The Jaguars have lost their last eight games dating back to last season and 17 of the last 19 games.
