JEA is sending 55 employees to Statesboro Georgia ahead of the winter storm.
Gerri Boyce tells WOKV 12 lineman crews, 1 troubleshooter crew, 2 coordinators and 1 safety specialist were called out to help with restoration efforts. They left Tuesday afternoon around 3:30pm. Boyce says Georgia Power requested mutual aid from JEA in preparation for restoration of service to customers affected by the winter storm.
Boyce says locally they are monitoring the storm but expect minimal damage.
"We are paying very close attention to the weather. We expect minimal impacts here in Jacksonville."
Boyce says crews are on standby locally in case of any power outtages.
