Jacksonville Fire and Rescue were able to quickly contain a Westside fire which was threatening nearby homes.
JFRD responded to the 300 block of Purcell Drive around 4 PM Wednesday, where a 10 acre brush fire was within 25 feet of nearby homes. Crews work quickly to surround the fire, and within the hour had it under control.
Some fences and a shed were damaged in the fire, but there were no injuries.
While JFRD Spokesman Tom Francis says it’s too early to definitively know what caused the fire, Forestry officials believe sparks from power lines may be involved.
