NORTHEAST Fla. - An online job fair going on all this week allows you to apply for multiple jobs without going to a job fair.
Candice Moody with Work Source tells WOKV it’s a less personal experience; so your resume does all the talking.
“You really should make sure that you are a very good match for the job,” she says. “Many job seekers kind of use the shotgun approach, and we recommend they’re more strategic in their applications because there’s nothing but your resume to make the case for you.”
Moody says the fact that it’s a weeklong event allows job seekers multiple days to look through the jobs, tailor their resumes to make sure it’s the best fit, and then apply for the jobs more thoughtfully.
“We also like the idea that job seekers all look equal in a virtual job fair,” she says. “So if you have a disability or you’re an older worker, you’re being judged on your skills.”
Right now 82 businesses have posted almost 500 jobs for the job fair. The jobs include health care and nursing, a line chef for hotel, child care, and Information Technologies.
Moody says dozens of job seekers get hired right away, and then as their applications are kept by employers after the event, they eventually wind up in jobs later.
