St. Johns County families claim puppies are being snatched from their yards

Jacksonville, Fl. — The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating two puppies believed to be stolen and similar reports have been filed.

A dog owner on Vogel Road in St. Augustine says her 15-week old Victorian Bulldog was snatched from a secured kennel on November 11th. The police report says the woman “knows for facts that the gate was secured by its latch, as well as secured in a secondary way using an old leash that she wraps around the gate.” The pup was also in the enclosure with other dogs were all loose, but were later found by the woman’s son.

The puppy who is named “Moose,” was just bought for the woman’s daughter and cost the family $2500. The owner says she had also recently posted a picture of Moose on social media and believes this is how the suspect learned she had the puppy.

Just two days before the puppy went missing on Vogel Street, another report was filed about a three-month-old Rottweiler who had gone missing on Bronson Parkway.

The owner told deputies that he let his dog named “Maui,” out for a walk one morning and the dog never returned. He says he went looking for Maui but didn’t have any look and it was unlike the pet to not return.

Another dog owner posted on social media in a St. Augustine Missing Pets group that her Great Dane puppy was almost taken from their front yard, but men in a gold-like SUV.
