JSO: 11 hostages released, Edgewood bank robbery suspect surrenders

UPDATE 11: 11 a.m.

The suspect has surrended to police and is in custody after taking hostages at a Northside bank.

UPDATE 11:05 a.m.

Eleven hostages have been released from the Community First Credit Union in Edgewood. The status of the suspect is unknown.

UPDATE 9:43 a.m.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office says a bank robber armed with a handgun is holding multiple people hostage on the Northside.

On Thursday morning, JSO and other agencies responded to the Community First Credit Union off Edgewood and Fernandina Avenue.

Police say they received a 911 call around 9 a.m. about a robbery in progress. JSO says another call said a person had been shot. Police have not yet confirmed whether anyone has been shot or the extent of any injuries.

SWAT and hostage negotiators are on scene. Police say it's unclear how many people are inside the bank.
