JSO rehires 10 officers

The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is putting officers back to work, and this batch may not be the last.

10 officers who had been let go in 2011 as part of the 48 officer force reduction have been rehired to fill vacant positions.  The positions opened as part of normal attrition like retirement or resignation.

JSO says these officers are already certified and properly trained, which means their rehire will come at little cost.  They are filling spots allowed within JSO’s current operating budget.

In a statement, the office says it is anticipating hiring back more of the officers laid off in 2011 with impending retirements.
