JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is warning local business owners about two separate crime patterns they're tracking.
JSO says over a two week span two white men and a possible third suspect have hit five businesses using older model trucks to break through the front windows of the convenience and dollar stores with varying things stolen each time. Police are encouraging owners to put barriers like poles or pylons in front of glass doors and windows to prevent this.
They're also tracking 16 incidents so far this year involving theft of backflow valves from businesses along Philips Highway. JSO says business owners should make sure they've put a locked, protective cage around the valve and posted signs indicating that there is video surveillance on the valve anyone who tampers with it will be prosecuted.
You're asked to call JSO with any information about either of these crime sprees.
