JACKSONVILLE, Fl. - The woman who escaped a detention facility is back in police custody, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office.
Police said Trishawnna R. Mitchell, 32, somehow freed herself from handcuffs and escaped through the exit doors of the Duval pre-trial detention facility.
It’s unclear how long the doors had been open, but JSO said many police vehicles were entering and exiting the facility through the doors.
JSO arrested Mitchell late Sunday night on domestic battery charges for an incident that happened near the 800 block of McDuff Avenue.
Mitchell was described as a black woman with short hair, standing 5 feet tall and weighing 152 pounds. She was wearing a rainbow colored dress at the time of the escape, according to police.
K-9 and air units were called in to help with the search. Police announced she had been caught and was back in police custody just before 8:30 a.m. Monday.
Records from the Florida Department of Corrections show she was arrested on grand theft auto charges in 2001.
