JSO: Woman arrested for stealing four purses in 5-day span

Jacksonville, FL — They're giving credit to good old fashioned police work.

The Jacksonville Sheriff's Office is announcing the arrest of a suspect they believe is responsible for a string of recent purse-snatchings.

JSO says Megan Brumfield has been arrested for 3 counts of theft and 1 count of auto burglary, after she was tied to four purse thefts in the past five days. Police say those alleged crimes occurred at the following locations and times:

-1/13 - 13490 Beach Boulevard - Walmart - Drove a vehicle up next to the victim and grabbed a purse from the front of the shopping cart.

-1/14 - 3238 Hodges - Ale House - Suspect stole a purse from inside the business

-1/15 - 4755 Hodges Boulevard - Shell - When the victim was putting gas in her car, the suspect entered the vehicle and took a purse

-1/17 - 11820 St. Augustine Road - Publix - Drove a vehicle up next to the victim and grabbed a purse from the front of the shopping cart.

According to JSO, when Brumfield was interviewed by officers she admitted to all four incidents.
