Jacksonville's unemployment rate rose slightly last month, it's higher than Florida's state average of 6.2 percent.
Last month, our local unemployment rate reached 6.7 percent, higher than the state.
"Part of the reason for the higher unemployment rate during the summer is that many workers that are affiliated with the school systems are off during the summer," said Candace Moody with WorkSource.
The highest unemployment rate is Putnam County at 8.8 percent. The lowest is in St. Johns County at 5.5 percent.
Moody says she remains optimistic overall believes the job market will continue to grow in Northeast Florida. However, she expects ups and downs.
"As people decide whether or not they are going to come back into the labor market."
