Jacksonville, FL - A Jacksonville man hit twice by a sword has been charged with murder for shooting and killing a man over a fight about drug money.
Police first responded to Buttercup Street in November, where they found 56-year-old Glenn Tucker had been shot multiple times. They soon caught 25-year-old Paris Regal, who witnesses named as the person responsible.
“The suspect went over to the house to collect on a drug debt from the victim, and the suspect was armed with a handgun at the time,” says JSO Assistant Chief Chris Butler.
Butler says Regal punched Tucker once when he refused to pay up. While Regal started fleeing the scene, Butler says Tucker pulled out a sword and hit the suspect twice- once on the forehead and once on the arm. That drew Regal to fire his gun, killing Tucker.
“The suspect was interviewed and confessed to shooting the victim, but claimed it was self-defense,” Butler says.
Regal was arrested that day for drug and weapons related charges. JSO says they have now concluded the shooting was not in self-defense, so they have booked Regal on murder as well.
