WOKV news has learned Mayor Alvin Brown has decided to not use his authority to line-item veto any items on the budget.
In a letter addressed to City Council president Bill Gulliford, Mayor Brown states that he is returning several ordinances back to the city council without his signature. A 1pm meeting scheduled for today to discuss possible line-item vetos to the budget has been cancelled. The mayor says now that the budget process is over he is looking forward to achieving other goals. Some of these include revitalizing downtown and attracting businesses to invest in the city.
