Jacksonville, FL - Jacksonville Mayor Alvin Brown is heading out to London a day after the rest of the city delegation traveled out with the Jaguars.
WOKV has confirmed Brown realized this weekend that he needed a new passport. He traveled to Miami today using personal resources in order to obtain that passport, meaning he did not travel on the team plane yesterday as initially scheduled. He is flying out of Miami today to join the rest of the delegation.
The first meeting listed on the city’s calendar for Brown is tomorrow morning, however we have not yet confirmed if any private meetings were missed as a result of the Miami detour.
Brown plans to fly back on the team plane. That flight, along with the cost of meals, hotels and flights for Brown, Council President Bill Gulliford and Office of Economic Development Executive Director Ted Carter will cost the city in excess of $10,000. A city spokesman tells us it is standard practice for the city to pay these costs.
