GAINESVILLE, Fl. - A 23-year-old man who thought the free coffee he ordered wasn’t made properly at a Gainesville McDonald’s is now facing charges for dragging a manager through the parking lot with his vehicle, according to Gainesville police.
A police report states that Gasuel Perez showed up at the West Newberry Road McDonald’s location just after 4:30 Monday morning and ordered a cup of coffee.
GDP Officer Ben Tobias says after the Perez got irritated with his order, he got a hold of the store’s keys and took off. The manager perused the suspect and was dragged by Perez’s vehicle down the parking lot. The victim was reportedly taken to the hospital with minor scratches and cuts, on a day in which McDonald’s was handing out free coffee coast to coast.
Perez was arrested by GPD a few miles away from the scene, thanks to witness accounts.
The 23-year-old was booked into the Alachua County Jail, and faces a charge of hitting a pedestrian and leaving the scene of the incident.
